An 11-year-old was killed and a 13-year-old injured in a farming accident in Milaca Friday morning.

The Mille Lacs County Sheriff said it received a call about a farming accident at 6292 110th Street in Milaca at 9:22 a.m. Friday.


On arrival, deputies learned that two juveniles, ages 13 and 11, had been operating a team of horses pulling a manure spreader. The spreader hit a rock and threw the two juveniles off. The 11-year-old was then run over by the spreader, causing his death. The 13-year-old sustained non-life threatening injuries.

The Anoka County Medical Examiner is conducting an autopsy.

The incident is currently under investigation by the Mille Lacs County Sheriff's Office.
