One of two people has been identified in an investigation involving two dead bodies found in Chippewa County, Minnesota, on Sunday.

According to the Hennepin County Medical Center, 42-year-old Andy Edward Wilcox, from Sioux Falls, was found with a gunshot wound to the head. The Chippewa County Sheriff's Office says the manner of death is pending due to a further investigation.


A release states deputies responded to a request by family members to help locate a suicidal individual at around noon. The family told police they believed a girlfriend could have also been with the individual.

Authorities located two adults in a secluded area of Chippewa County west of Sparta Cemetery, according to the sheriff's office. 

One individual was pronounced dead at the scene. The other, identified as Wilcox, was transported to North Memorial Medical Center where he was later pronounced dead. 

The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA) is assisting the sheriff's office with the investigation.
