One motorcyclist is dead while another is listed in serious condition, stemming from a crash that happened Saturday afternoon in Dunn County.

According to the Dunn County Sheriff's Office, a report was called in at 1:29 p.m. to the Dunn County 911-E Center detailing two motorcycles being involved in a crash on State Road 64 at County Road Q in New Haven Township.

Authorities learned a group of motorcycles was heading eastbound on State Road 64 and the group was intending to proceed south on County Road Q. When they approached County Road Q, an adult male motorcyclist struck the rear of the motorcycle in front of him, which was operated by an adult female. Both operators were ejected from their motorcycles. There were no other occupants on each motorcycle, and neither rider was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

Fifty-three-year-old Carol Anne Kukacka was transported by Boyceville Ambulance to Mayo-Menomonie with serious injuries. Life-saving measures were attempted on 50-year-old David Nelson, however, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

The sheriff's office said alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the crash.

The crash remains under investigation.
