One person was killed in a crash in western Wisconsin on Wednesday.

The Pierce County Sheriff's Office said deputies were called to the scene of a single-vehicle crash on State Highway 35, about 0.2 miles north of 375th Avenue in Prescott, Wisconsin, at about 11:57 p.m.

The sheriff's office said it determined a 2004 Saturn Vue was headed south on State Highway 35 when the driver lost control and entered a private driveway, striking a large rock.

Lifesaving efforts were performed on scene, but authorities say the driver was pronounced dead at the scene. He has been identified as Allen Mitchell, 64, of Pepin, Wisconsin.

In addition to the Pierce County Sheriff's Office, the Red Wing, Minnesota Ambulance and Ellsworth, Wisconsin Fire Department also responded to the scene.
