A suspect has been arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of a man early Wednesday morning in an alley in north Minneapolis.

According to the Minneapolis Police Department, officers responded to a ShotSpotter activation around 12:48 a.m. on the 3500 block of Bryant Avenue North.

When police arrived, they found an adult male victim who had suffered a gunshot wound. Officers attempted life-saving measures until paramedics arrived to take the victim to North Memorial Health Hospital. Police say he was pronounced dead shortly after arriving at the hospital.

After a search of the area of the shooting, police made contact with a man who police say was "hostile" and "resistant" to the investigation. According to police, evidence indicated this man was a person of interest in the shooting, and he has been detained.

Police identified the man as 30-year-old Derelle Keith Todd.

The Hennepin County Medical Examiner's Office will release the victim's identity, as well as the and cause of nature of death, in the days ahead.
