One person is dead after a house fire in Maple Grove.

Maple Grove Fire and Rescue said crews responded to the house fire Thursday night near Zinnia Lane North and 67th Avenue. One person was found dead.

The State Fire Marshal and Hennepin County officials were called to investigate. It's unclear at this time what caused the fire.

Maple Grove Fire Chief Tim Bush said it took hours for firefighters to gain control of the fire due to the type of insulation inside the home. He added firefighters weren't able to get inside the home because there were so many flames.

"We brought all five Maple Grove fire stations into play for this call," Bush said. "We also had a life support unit from St. Louis Park come in to provide firefighter rehabiliation to help make sure the firefighters are good."

The Hennepin County Medical Examiner identified the victim as Margaret Loretta West, 80. The Maple Grove Fire Department and the State Fire Marshall are investigating.
