Dunn County Sheriff Kevin Bygd said in a news release the sheriff's office and Menomonie Fire and Rescue were called to the intersection of U.S. 12 and County Road B in Red Cedar Township at about 3:07 p.m.

The department said an SUV southbound on B entered the intersection and collided with a semi that was westbound on Highway 12.

The driver of the SUV had to be extricated from the vehicle, and was then transported to a local hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
