Severe thunderstorm watch active for southeast Minnesota, southwest Wisconsin

KSTP meteorologist Ken Barlow says Wednesday will feature showers and thunderstorms in Minnesota and neighboring states. As of Wednesday morning, the rainfall has moved through the southwest part of the state.

The National Weather Service states a severe thunderstorm watch is active until 3 p.m. for the following Minnesota counties: Goodhue, Rice, Waseca, Steele, Dodge, Wabasha, Winona, Houston, Filmore, Mower, Freeborn and Olmsted.

In addition, these southeastern Wisconsin counties are also under a thunderstorm watch until the same time: La Crosse, Monroe, Jackson, Trempealeau, Buffalo, Vernon, Richland, Crawford and Grant.

Some scattered hail is possible, as well as wind gusts accumulating up to 70 miles per hour.

Barlow adds a few severe storms will pop up south of the metro as well on Wednesday.
