Messy weather is expected to move into the state late Thursday into Friday.

KSTP Meteorologist Jonathan Yuhas said the risk for thunderstorms is expected to increase as Thursday progresses and that storms could produce heavy downpours and hail.

Thunderstorms could continue Friday morning before a mix of rain, sleet and snow is expected. Yuhas said snow and ice could accumulate primarily in Carver, Scott and Wright counties.

Then, temperatures are expected to drop into the mid-30s with wind gusts producing wind chills in the 20s, Yuhas said.
