Protect your plants: Frost advisory to go into effect early Saturday

Minnesotans might want to make a plan Friday to cover their outdoor plants.

The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a frost advisory for 1-9 a.m. Saturday.

The advisory covers portions of central, east-central, south-central, southwest and west-central Minnesota.

The NWS warns frost could kill sensitive outdoor vegetation if left uncovered. Home and Garden expert Larry Pfarr shares what you need to know about keeping plants safe in colder weather here.

Chief Meteorologist Ken Barlow said Friday’s cooler air will stick around through Saturday, adding that Friday night, temperatures might dip into the 30s for the first time this season.

Barlow said most of the weekend is expected to be sunny and dry, with temperatures nearing 60 degrees on Saturday and reaching mid-60s on Sunday.
