Wild trade for Blaine native Nick Bjugstad

The Minnesota Wild acquired Blaine native Nick Bjugstad in a trade with the Pittsburgh Penguins on Friday night.

The Wild send a condition selection in the 2021 NHL Draft to Pittsburgh who will also retain a portion of Bjugstad’s salary for the 2020-21 season.

Bjugstad, 28, played three seasons of college hockey at the University of Minnesota and was the 19th overall pick in the first round of the 2010 NHL Draft. In 439 career NHL games, he’s collected 207 points.

Bjugstad had spinal surgery at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester in May. He only played 13 games last season for Pittsburgh.
