Wild recall ex-Gopher Sammy Walker to make NHL debut

The former three-time captain for the University of Minnesota men’s hockey team is expected to make his NHL debut with his hometown Minnesota Wild this weekend.

Friday, the Wild recalled forward Sammy Walker from the Iowa Wild and reassigned Joseph Cramarossa to Iowa.

The 23-year-old Walker has played in 21 games for Iowa this season and leads them in points (11-11=22), goals and power-play goals.

Walker, an Edina native, was picked 200th overall in the 2017 NHL Draft by Tampa Bay but signed as a free agent with Minnesota in August.

He’s expected to debut in the Wild’s game in Vancouver Saturday night and wear No. 74.
