Vikings trade CB Mike Hughes, 7th-round pick to Chiefs for 6th-round pick

The Minnesota Vikings have traded cornerback Mike Hughes to the Kansas City Chiefs, the team announced Thursday.

The Vikings will bundle a 2022 seventh-round draft pick in the trade and receive a 2022 sixth-round pick in return.

The UCF product was drafted by the Vikings in the first round of the 2018 NFL Draft but has only appeared in 24 games so far in his pro career because of injuries. He played in just four games during the 2020 campaign.

Earlier this month the Vikings said they were not going to pick up Hughes’ fifth-year option, which would have guaranteed him $9.6 million in 2022.
