Vikings sign Harrison Smith to 4-year extension

The Minnesota Vikings signed five-time Pro Bowl safety Harrison Smith to a contract extension, the team announced on Sunday.

The extension is worth $64 million over four years according to ESPN radio.

Smith, 32, finished the 2020 season with 89 tackles, five interceptions and 10 pass breakups. Smith’s 150 career games is second only to Hall of Famer Paul Krause among Vikings safeties. His 28 interceptions is the most among NFL safeties since Smith joined the league in 2012.

A 1st-Team All-Pro selection in 2017, Smith ranks third all-time in Vikings history among defensive backs with 867 career tackles.

The Vikings visit the Cincinnati Bengals to open the 2021 NFL regular season on September 12.
