Twins sign catcher Vazquez to 3-year, $30 million deal

Catcher Christian Vazquez has agreed to a three-year, $30 million contract with the Minnesota Twins, a source confirms with KSTP’s Darren Wolfson.

Vazquez, 32, helped the Houston Astros win a World Series in 2022 after spending the first seven and half seasons with the Boston Red Sox. He’s considered one of the best defensive catchers in baseball and was behind the plate for Houston’s combined no-hitter against the Phillies in Game 4 of the World Series.

Vazquez hit a career-high 23 home runs in 2019 with the Red Sox and is a career .261 hitter.

5 EYEWITNESS NEWS was the first to report the Twins made an offer to Vazquez last Thursday.
