Twins’ Archer returns, set to start series finale against White Sox Sunday

The Minnesota Twins have reinstated Chris Archer from their 15-day injured list, the team announced Sunday.

The right-handed pitcher has missed the Twins’ last 13 games due to hip tightness, the team says.

Archer is scheduled to start against the Chicago White Sox on Sunday afternoon.

The 33-year-old has gone 2-3 on the mound this season with 30 walks and 47 strikeouts. His ERA sits at 3.08.

The Twins have optioned left-handed pitcher Devin Smeltzer to the St. Paul Saints to make room on their 26-man roster.

Smeltzer has gone 4-2 with a 4.02 ERA in twelve starts this season.
