In her career as an athletic trainer, Stacey Hardin has handled just about every imaginable bump, bruise and break and has crafted athlete-specific workout and rehabilitation plans. She never could have imagined she’d have to plan how a professional sports team can practice during a pandemic.

As Minnesota United’s head athletic trainer, Hardin was the point person in planning the Loons return to the practice field once Major League Soccer gave teams the green light to resume individual, outdoor, socially-distanced training.

The process included conjuring up a list of precautions, safeguards and screening toward trying to make United’s workouts as safe as they possibly can be.

The Loons were the first Minnesota pro team to resume practice since sports shutdown at the start of the pandemic.
