Minnesota United adds defender on 1-year deal

Minnesota United has added a new defender to its roster.

Thursday, the club announced the signing of Zarek Valentin to a one-year contract, which includes a club option.

Valentin has spent the past three seasons with Houston, starting 50 matches and tallying four assists. He also previously played in 80 MLS games for Portland and was a regular starter on the team that went to the 2018 MLS Cup Final.

The 31-year-old has also had stints with Chivas USA, Montreal, FK Bodø/Glimt of the Norwegian First Division and the Puerto Rico National Team.
