The Minnesota Lynx have done well so far winning three of their first four games to start the season, thanks in large part to Sylvia Fowles.

Fowles is a 13-year veteran who leads the team in scoring at 15.8 points per game and is leading the league in rebounding at 12.3 boards per contest. Fowles also became the WNBA’s all-time leading rebounder in the teams only loss to the Seattle Storm on July 28th.

"We’re playing well, but right now we’re trying to save all of our energy for the games and rest as much as we can," Fowles said on Monday.

The Lynx have played their first four games in just seven days and the schedule won’t get any easier for them. Head coach Cheryl Reeve believes this season will be one of the most difficult due to the fact that the team is playing so frequently. From here on out, Minnesota will play 22 games in just seven weeks, so staying healthy and resting is pivotal for the team to succeed.

"I don’t know how we’re going to do it. This past week was extremely difficult. I’m not sure how we’re going to be able to sustain this pace, but we need to get as much rest when we can. At the level of intensity these games are played at it’s going to be a brutal stretch," Reeve said.

Minnesota will see a familiar face on the opposing team’s bench in their next game. Shelley Patterson, who was a Lynx assistant for a decade, is now coaching for the New York Liberty. The game is Wednesday night at 6:00 P.M. Central. The Liberty are currently winless at 0-4.
