On Tuesday, former Twins 6-time All-Star Joe Mauer and his wife Maddie will host the Mauer and Friends Kids Classic at Target Field.

The event will feature a Home Run Challenge with some of Mauer’s former teammates like Brian Dozier, Justin Morneau and Jim Thome taking part in the fun.

Mauer retired following the 2018 season – a decision he does not regret.

"Obviously I took the time after the 2018 season to really go over that decision and (I’m) still happy with it," Mauer told KSTP Sports Director Joe Schmit. "I still could go out there and play, but it was the right timing for me."

Mauer says he’s stayed busier than expected after retiring, but there are some things he misses about the game.

"I think just stepping into the box and facing a big league pitcher. There’s something about that. Every night you’re facing the best in the world."

You can purchase tickets for the Mauer and Friends Kids Classic through the Minnesota Twins website.
