Gophers women’s hockey shuts out Ohio State in season-opener

The Minnesota Gophers women’s hockey team defeated the Ohio State Buckeyes 4-0 Saturday afternoon at Ridder Arena.

The season could not have started any better for the Golden Gophers, as senior co-captain Grace Zumwinkle scored on the first shot of the season, 32 seconds into the game.

Then, just five shots later, freshman center Josey Dunne scored her first goal in her Gopher career to put Minnesota up 2-0 in the second period.

To put the game away in the third period, Zumwinkle scored her second goal to make it 3-0 Gophers. Finally, Taylor Wente added an empty-net goal to make it a 4-0 final.
