McLaughlin scores twice as Gophers beat Notre Dame 5-1

The Gophers men’s hockey team beat Notre Dame 5-1 Friday night for their fifth straight win against the Fighting Irish.

Blake McLaughlin scored two goals as twelve different Gophers tallied points in the series opening win. Minnesota goalie Justen Close set a career-high with 28 saves.

The Gophers were 0-for-3 on the power play and Notre Dame outshot them 29-24. The two teams square off against Saturday night in South Bend, Indiana
