Stanford freshman guard and former DeLaSalle high school star Tyrell Terry plans to enter this year’s NBA draft.

“With all things considered, I have decided to chase a childhood dream and declare for the 2020 NBA draft,” Terry said in a Twitter post Monday. “I am confident in my abilities to play at the highest level and look forward to giving it 100 percent each step of throughout this process. I appreciate all the support.”

Terry told our Darren Wolfson that he will reserve the right to head back to Stanford for his sophomore year, if he wants to. In other words, he's not hiring a non-certified agent.

Terry finished his freshman season averaging 14.6 points per game, 4.6 rebounds per game, and 3.2 assists per game. He had a season-high 27 points against Utah, and in that game he made seven three-pointers. He made nearly 41 percent of his 3s throughout the year.

Terry told Wolfson that he'll get feedback from NBA teams, then decide before the June 3 deadline whether to stay in the Draft or head back to Palo Alto. He also said that to play at the next level, he needs to get stronger.
