After spending nine seasons playing for the Wild, Ryan Suter will face them Thursday night. It's a homecoming for Suter, who is now a member of the Dallas Stars.

Suter met with reporters Thursday morning at the X, and tried to downplay facing the franchise he helped get to the playoffs all but one of the years he was here.

After being bought out by the Wild in the summer, Suter chose to sign with Dallas, signing a four-year contract worth $14.6 million. Over a dozen teams expressed interest.

Both Suter and Zach Parise were informed of being bought out on the same day. They signed with the Wild on the same day in 2012, each inking a 13-year contract.

Parise returned to the X on Nov. 7 with his new team, the New York Islanders, and lost 5-2.

Suter is off to a good start in Dallas, scoring eight points (two goals, six assists) in 14 games. He is also averaging 22:50 of ice time per game, second on the team.

The Stars reached the Stanley Cup Final in 2019-20, which is a big reason why Suter chose to join them. He feels like they can return to that level this season.
