Gophers CB Winfield Jr. selected by Buccaneers in 2nd round of NFL Draft

Former Gopher safety Antoine Winfield Jr. was selected by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers with the 13th pick in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft Friday night.

Winfield Jr. was a first team All-American as a redshirt sophomore last year at the University of Minnesota and declared for the draft following the 2019 season. He was also a finalist for the Bronko Nagurski Trophy.

Winfield follows his father into the National Football League. Antoine Winfield Sr. played 14 seasons in the NFL for the Buffalo Bills and the Minnesota Vikings.
