No. 1 Edina girls soccer shutout Prior Lake in 2AAA playoffs

The No. 1 Edina Hornets girls soccer team defeated the Prior Lake Lakers 6-0 Tuesday evening at Kuhlman Field in the quarterfinals of Section 2AAA.


Edina senior captain Maddie Dahlien, and North Carolina commit, had herself a game, rather a first half. She scored the first three Edina goals in the first 26:46 of the game, giving the Hornets the 3-0 lead with just over 13 minutes remaining in the half. 

Hornet sophomore Izzy Engle added another first half goal to make it 4-0 Edina at the half. 

Hornet junior Taylor Howard scored early in the second half to make it 5-0 Edina. 

Finally, senior Lauren McDonald scored from over 40-yards out on a free kick to make it 6-0 Edina with just under 18 minutes remaining in the game.

Edina will now face Chanhassen on Thursday, October 14 at Kuhlman Field.
