Minneapolis North routs Saint Agnes for Section 4AA Championship

The Minneapolis North Polars football team defeated the Saint Agnes Aggies 44-0 to win the Section 4AA Championship, Friday afternoon at Saint Thomas Academy High School.

Saint Agnes fumbled the opening kickoff and North senior Elisha Jackson Jr. recovered for the Polars. North wasted no time capitalizing on the turnover, as senior quarterback Zach Yeager hit junior wide receiver Meiko Anderson for a touchdown. 8-0 Polars following a two-point conversion. 

Next Polar possession, Yeager found senior wideout Clifford Brown Jr. for a long catch, down to the one-yard line. From there, senior running back Terrance Kamara would punch it for North. 14-0 Polars with 6:59 left in the first quarter. 

Next North possession took only one play for the Polars to score. Yeager hit Sanders for a 48-yard touchdown pass and catch. 20-0 North with 4:52 left in the first quarter.

Then, on their next possession, North's senior tight end Devon Townley had a beautiful catch and run to put the Polars inside the ten-yard line. Yeager then found Anderson for his second touchdown catch of the game. A two-point conversion for North put them up 28-0 with 1:27 left in the first quarter. 

Agnes put together a long drive in the second quarter. But, North would stop the Aggies on a fourth-down attempt to turn the Aggies over on downs. 

On the ensuing North possession, Kamara had a couple of long runs to put North at midfield. Yeager then had a beautiful pass to Sanders to put North on the five-yard line. Yeager would find Brown Jr. for his first touchdown catch of the game. 36-0 North with 49 seconds left in the first half.

The Polars scored a touchdown on all five first-half possessions. 

In the third quarter, the Aggies put together another long drive behind the legs of junior Caleb Flood. However, North's defense again ending up turning the Aggies over on downs. 

North's following possession, on the last play of the third quarter, Yeager pushed-passed to Sanders, who took it 70-yards for a touchdown. 44-0 North after three quarters. 

North would end up winning 44-0 to win the Section 4AA Championship.
