The Minneapolis North Polars debuted new and improved Hobbs Field against Providence Academy Friday evening and beat the Lions 40-10.

The Polars kicked things off when senior quarterback Zach Yeager found junior wideout Mario Sanders to make it 6-0 Polars, following a failed two-point conversion.

On the ensuing kickoff, Providence sophomore Stormy Knight had a long return to set the Lions up with great field position. Then, on fourth down, junior running back Jacob Meissner scored a rushing touchdown to give Providence a 7-6 lead with 6:42 left in the first quarter.

But, Sanders answered with a great kickoff return of his to give the Polars strong field position as well. That position led to Yeager hitting junior wideout De'meiko Anderson in the end zone to make it a 12-7 game. Yeager hit senior Devon Townley for the two-point conversion to make it a 14-7 game with five minutes left in the first quarter.

On their first offensive play of the second quarter, North senior running back Terrance Kamara had a 94-yard touchdown run to make it 20-7, following another failed two-point conversion from the Polars.

Providence answered back with a field goal at the end of the first half to make it 20-10 at the break.

The Polars took over in the second half. Kamara and Yeager led the Polars down the field, leading to Yeager finding Townley for a touchdown. Yeager added a two-point conversion to make it 28-10 with just under three minutes left in the third quarter.

In the fourth, Yeager again hit Townley for yet another touchdown. After a failed two-point conversion, the score was 34-10 North with 10:25 left in the game. On their next drive, Yeager found Sanders for a deep touchdown catch. After another failed two-point conversion, the score was 40-10 with just over seven minutes left in the game.

The win improves North to 2-0 on the season.  The Lions fall to 0-2.
