Delano girls swim and dive defeat Hutchinson, 99-87

The Delano Tigers girls swim and dive team defeated the Hutchinson Tigersharks 99-87 Thursday evening at Delano High School.

Last season’s State runner-up Hutchinson competed against the third from last season in Delano for a battle of the Tigers. Three of Class A’s top individual swimmers were in the water. Hutchinson’s Grace Hanson and Hailey Farrell, and Delano’s Emma Kern accounted for five individual state titles at last season’s State Meet, including state records for Hanson in the 50 yard Freestyle and Emma Kern in the 100 yard Backstroke.

Some of the highlights include the 200 yard Freestyle. Farrell won with a time of 1:54:47, followed by Delano’s Kylie Strobl with a time of 1:58:35.

In the 50 yard Freestyle, Hanson set a pool record time of 23.52, followed by Delano’s Kaia Georges with a time of 25.10.

In the diving competition, Delano’s Avery Lommel won with a score of 158.

The 100 yard Butterfly was won by Kern with a time of 57.51, followed by Hutchinson’s Madison Witte with a time of 1:00:16.

Finally, in the 100 yard Freestyle, Hanson set another pool record with a time of 51.42, followed by Georges with a time of 55.93.

In the end, Delano won 99-87.
