Cretin-Derham Hall boys basketball advances to state on a last second buzzer-beater

The Cretin-Derham Hall Raiders defeated the East Ridge Raptors 51-48 on a three pointer by senior guard Curtis Jones as time expired to win Section 4, Class 4A and advance to the state tournament.

The Raiders jumped out to a 14-5 lead early in the first half. But, Raptors made a push to make it a 22-17 halftime deficit.

The second half was a back-and-forth battle. Raptors clawed their way back behind senior star Ben Carlson and senior guard Brody Kriesel. Carlson finished with 15 points. Kriesel finished with 18 points and hit a three to tie the game at 48 with under a minute to play.

With 3.7 second remaining, Raiders sophomore guard Tre Holloman inbounded the ball to Jones, who took one dribble and shot a deep three that hit nothing but net. Holloman finished with 14 points, while Jones ended with 16.
