Minnetonka started things off in the top of the first inning when senior catcher Danny Davis singled. Then, senior first baseman Charlie Hemer singled up the middle for an RBI to make it 1-0 Minnetonka. With bases loaded, senior centerfielder Grant Thomas drew a bases-loaded walk to make it 2-0 Skippers at the end of the top of the first inning.

In the bottom half of the inning, senior third baseman Alex Berreth and junior shortstop Kyle Hrncir both singled to put two men on base. Senior centerfielder Carter Hendrickson then hit a three-run home run to make it a 3-2 game in favor of the Tigers.

From the second inning on, the game was a classic pitcher’s duel between Minnetonka’s Karsten Kimsal and Farmington’s Zach Dohrmann. Neither pitcher allowed another run for the game. Dohrmann pitched a complete game, only allowing two hits.

Farmington will play Park of Cottage Grove for the Class 4A State Championship on Friday at Target Field.
