The Minneapolis North Polars boys basketball team took down the Moose Lake/Willow River Rebels 71-40, Wednesday afternoon at Osseo High School, in a Class AA quarterfinal matchup.

North jumped out to a 13-6 lead behind six early points from senior forward Devon Townley Jr. But, then Rebel senior guard Mason Olson and junior guard Logan Orvedahl hit consecutive threes and made it 13-12 with about 12 minutes left in the half.

After some back-and-forth baskets, Townley was fouled on a made layup, extending the lead with 2:09 minutes left in the half. North would lead 32-21 at the break, with Townley scoring 13 points in the half.

North came out hot in the second half. Following an Andre Gray bucket, the Polars were up 47-26 with 11 minutes left in the game.

From there, North would take the game over. Clifford Brown had an easy layup and then center Marcus Owens would have an easy layup as well to put the Polars up 58-32 with seven minutes to play.

Owens would then get fouled on a made layup to make it 65-35 North with 3:30 left in the game.

The Polars will play the winner of St. Croix Prep, Stillwater vs. Caledonia in the Class AA semifinals at Target Center.
