Benilde-St. Margaret’s last minute goals lifts them past Hill-Murray

The Benilde-St. Margaret’s Red Knights defeated the Hill-Murray Pioneers 5-3 on Tuesday evening at Aldrich Arena.

The Red Knights kicked things off when sophomore forward Drew Stewart scored to make it 1-0 in the first period. Later in the first, Red Knights sophomore forward Ben Norris scored to make it 2-0 Benilde with 2:43 remaining.

The Pioneers cut the lead in half when senior forward Marcus Kaufman scored to make it 2-1 with 10:39 left in the second period. But, Red Knights senior defenseman Brady Yakesh scored with 6.1 second left in the second period to make it 3-1 Benilde.

However, Hill-Murray would not quit. Pioneer senior defenseman Leo Gruba scored to make it 3-2 with 15:15 left in the game. Later, Hill-Murray senior defenseman Ben Karr scored to make it 3-3 with 7:46 left in the game.

The game remained tied heading into the final minute of play when Red Knights sophomore forward Michael Risteau scored to make it 4-3 with 52.9 seconds left in the game. Then, not even 20 seconds later, Stewart scored his second goal of the game to make it 5-3 Red Knights.
