Woman dies after driving into construction zone in Le Sueur County

A 51-year-old woman died after she crashed her car into a construction zone Saturday morning in Le Sueur County, according to a Minnesota State Patrol crash report.

Around 7:24 a.m., a Chrysler Sebring was headed westbound on Highway 99 in Montgomery Township, northeast of Mankato, when the driver drove through a construction zone and into a hole in the road, the crash report stated.

The driver, identified as Michelle Dawn Burwell, 51, of Northfield, was pronounced dead at the scene.

She was not wearing a seat belt, and alcohol was believed to be a factor, according to the State Patrol.
