Gov. Tim Walz said Wednesday that more than 230,000 Minnesotans are using the COVID-19 exposure notification app launched by the state in November.

According to a release from the Governor's Office, the COVIDaware app, which was released on Nov. 23, also reached No. 3 in the most popular utilities app category in the iPhone App Store within two days of its release.

"Every community is safer when we collectively take steps to care for each other during this pandemic," Walz said. "Strong adoption of this important tool will make sure Minnesotans have as much information about potential exposure as possible so they can help protect the people around them, even those they don’t know."
