Union says COVID-19 cases on rise at Hopkins grocery distribution warehouse

Teamsters Local 120 claims COVID-19 cases are on the rise at a major Hopkins grocery distributor.

The union is calling for state health officials to take action at United Natural Foods Inc., "before the state’s grocery supply is affected."

As of Wednesday, there are at least four confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the warehouse, according to Teamsters.

According to the union, last week, workers were brought in without testing, and social distancing and safety protocols have not been followed.

"This could escalate quickly if the company doesn’t wake up," Local 120 President Tom Erickson said. "Instead of following safety protocols, they decided to bring in workers from all over the country, which not only increases the risk of potential exposure to our workers but also amplifies the potential impact on the state’s grocery supply."
