Twin boys found in overheated vehicle in Hibbing; 1 in critical condition

The Hibbing Police Department is investigating an incident where two twin boys were found in a hot vehicle and one was transported to a hospital in critical condition.

According to police, on Thursday at about 5:30 p.m., officers responded to the 4200 block of Fourth Street in the Leetonia neighborhood in Hibbing, on a report of two missing 3-year-old twin boys.

Officers, along with neighbors, began to search the area. About an hour and a half later, an officer located both boys locked inside a vehicle near the residence. Both boys were unresponsive and in medical distress due to the extreme heat inside the vehicle.

One boy was transported to a nearby hospital. He is currently in stable condition. The other boy was transported by air medical to Children’s Hospital, where he is currently in critical condition.

The incident remains under investigation, however, authorities do not believe foul play is suspected in this case.
