Teenager arrested in Hopkins assault

A juvenile has been taken into custody in connection to an assault in Hopkins.

Hopkins Police announced the arrest Tuesday night, adding that the suspect’s name can’t be publicly released due to his age.

According to police, at about 7 p.m. on June 10, a female pedestrian was near Lake Street Northeast and Tyler Avenue North when a teenager on his bicycle approached her.

Surveillance video from a doorbell camera showed the suspect grabbing the woman from behind.

The woman told police she headed toward the popular Cedar Lake Trail to get away from him but the teen followed her onto the trail north of Second Street Northeast and east of Highway 169.

A $1,000 reward was also offered for information leading to the teen’s identification.
