A man has been arrested in connection to a hit-and-run crash that killed a man Thursday night in Minneapolis.
According to Minneapolis police spokesman John Elder, officers found an unoccupied vehicle matching the description of the one involved in the crash parked in north Minneapolis early Friday morning. Police say there was evidence the vehicle had recently been in a crash, and it was towed for forensic inspection.
Detectives were eventually able to trace the vehicle to 54-year-old Henry Lee Brown, who was booked into the Hennepin County Adult Detention Center on suspicion of criminal vehicular homicide. He has not been formally charged.
The crash happened around 5:42 p.m. Thursday near 30th Avenue North and Newton Avenue North. A caller reported that a man had been hit by a vehicle that had fled the scene.
The victim was found lying in the street in grave condition and was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police. He has been identified as Jerry Lee Johnson, 49, of Minneapolis.
