So Minnesota: Pachyderm Recording Studios in Cannon Falls

Over the years some great music has been made here in Minnesota.

One recording studio in Cannon Falls has a long and unique history.

Off a country road, surrounded by woods and a creek, Pachyderm Recording Studios is an artist’s dream.

Flashback Friday: Looking back on Nirvana’s Minnesota connection

"I think to me, the best thing about this studio is the setting," Nick Tveitbakk, and engineer and producer said. "That really just helps people focus and be creative and just kind of be immersed in their project."

The recording studio opened in 1988 and is next to a spacious five-bedroom home.

Many of Minnesota’s top acts have recorded at Pachyderm Studios, including Soul Asylum and the Jayhawks.

In 1993, Nirvana recorded at the studio.

"Whatever is out there in the woods and by that creek, like there’s definitely some magic around there’s no denying that," Tveitbakk said.
