Authorities: Predatory offender with multiple warrants arrested

The East Central Drug and Violent Offenders Task Force (ECDVOTF), consisting of authorities from Chisago, Isanti, Kanabec and Pine counties, said Friday they arrested a 35-year-old Harris man on multiple charges stemming from two warrants.

According to a news release, on Tuesday the ECDVOTF, assisted by the Chisago, Pine and Aitkin County Sheriff's Offices, as well as the Aitkin Police Department, located and arrested a non-compliant predatory offender in Aitkin.

Derrick Russell Hoff had been on the run for weeks before law enforcement caught up with him in Aitkin. Hoff had an outstanding warrant in Pine County for failure to register as a predatory offender and was wanted on other charges including assault, firearms violations and controlled substances in Chisago County. 

Before his arrest, a search warrant was executed at Hoff's residence, where he was located and taken into custody. Police discovered a large amount of controlled substances and firearms Hoff will now face charges in three counties, according to the task force.
