A robbery suspect was shot and taken to a hospital, and two other suspects were arrested after an incident in St. Paul early Tuesday morning.

According to St. Paul Police, officers were called to an apartment in the area of Raleigh Street and Como Avenue at about 2:40 a.m. after several people reported shots had been fired.

When officers arrived, witnesses told them that a woman had been shot in the chest and back after she was part of a group of people that robbed people inside an apartment.

Police said early investigation indicates several suspects — one of whom had a gun — entered an apartment and the person with a gun pointed it at several people while the other suspects stole things.

As the suspects ran to their vehicle, someone fired shots and one of the suspects — the woman — was struck. The suspects all took off in a vehicle and drove the woman to Regions Hospital.

The woman was taken into surgery and is expected to survive, according to police.

The two people she was with, a man and a woman, were arrested for burglary, robbery and aggravated assault, police said.

Investigators are still working to determine what all happened and who shot the woman.
