One dead after Friday night Minneapolis shooting

One man died in the hospital overnight after a Friday evening shooting in Minneapolis.

According to police, at 10:16 p.m. officers responded to calls of gunfire and a neighbor reporting a man in their yard who claimed he’d been shot near Aldrich Avenue North and 47th Avenue North in Minneapolis. Police found a man with gunshot wounds outside of the home; he was responsive and conscious and taken to North Memorial Medical Center. However, he died a few hours later, police said.

This is the 73rd homicide in Minneapolis in 2021.

There is an investigation underway and the Hennepin County Medical Examiner will release the cause of death and identity of the victim soon.
