No injuries reported after train derailment in Plymouth

Authorities say no one was injured after a train derailment in Plymouth Sunday afternoon.

According to the Plymouth Public Safety Department, first responders were called at about 1 p.m. on the report of a Canadian Pacific train derailment along the tracks at Northwest Boulevard.

Police say a total of 22 train cars derailed. The cars contained molten sulfur, asphalt and lumber. No spills have been discovered.

Emergency responders said there were no leaks in the train cars and no need to require evacuations in the area. However, officials continued to monitor air quality in the area.

Canadian Pacific crews worked to clear the derailed cars and lay new railroad tracks.

A hazmat team remained at the site until it cleared.
