A day ahead of Palm Sunday, a New Brighton church offered a drive-thru service for its parishioners.

The Rev. Paul Shovelain of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church said 160 cars received palm leaves and Holy Communion on Saturday.

"It was beautiful to see so many people, both young and old, come out today to receive the Lord and Eucharist and also receive blessed palms," Shovelain said. "And there’s just a sense of joy about them, a sense of excitement that they can see the light at the end of the tunnel."

The church will also hold in-person services on Sunday.
