According to the Minneapolis Police Department, on Wednesday at around 12:48 a.m., officers responded to a ShotSpotter activation around on the 3500 block of Bryant Avenue North.

When police arrived, they found an adult male victim who had suffered a gunshot wound. Officers attempted life-saving measures until paramedics arrived to take the victim to North Memorial Health Hospital. Police say he was pronounced dead shortly after arriving at the hospital.

Police later identified the victim as 28-year-old Jacob Smith.

After searching the area of the shooting, police contacted Todd, who police said was "hostile" and "resistant" to the investigation.

According to police, the evidence indicated Todd was a person of interest in the shooting, and he was detained.
