A Maplewood man has been charged in connection to an arson that took place at Gordon Parks High School during the civil unrest and protests that followed the death of George Floyd.

The U.S. Attorney's Office said 19-year-old Mohamed Hussein Abdi has been with arson.

A criminal complaint says on May 28, the Midway neighborhood high school was damaged following afire and vandalism.

The complaint says surveillance cameras inside of the school captured footage of Abdi setting a fire in the cafeteria.

The ATF and FBI urge the public to report suspected arson, use of explosive devices, or violent, destructive acts associated with the recent unrest. Anyone with information specifically related to business fires in the Twin Cities can call 1-888-ATF-TIPS.
