Man airlifted to hospital after hit-and-run in Granite Falls

A man was airlifted to a hospital Sunday morning after a hit-and-run in Granite Falls.

The Granite Falls Police Department said officers were called to a home in the 1100 block of Granite Street at about 12:54 a.m. on a report of a fight. There, a man told officers he was the passenger in the vehicle that’d just struck and injured a man.

The department said officers quickly found the scene of the crash but didn’t find a victim or the suspect vehicle. Officers were able to track down the suspect vehicle and the suspected driver, identified as 27-year-old Alan Asuncion De Los Santos. He was arrested on suspicion of criminal vehicular operation.

At about 9:46 a.m., a tip led officers to a home on the 1200 block of Sixth Street, where officers found the victim of the earlier hit-and-run. Police said the man had significant injuries to both his head and face as well as his lower extremities. He was taken to a hospital and then flown to another hospital for treatment.

The victim’s condition wasn’t clear as of Monday morning.

The incident remains under investigation.
