Lyn-Lake staple Muddy Waters to permanently close

Muddy Waters, an institution in Minneapolis's bustling Lyn-Lake neighborhood, announced it would be closing its doors for good on Sunday.

"We will miss Muddys forever," a post on the restaurant and bar's Facebook page stated. "It was a touchstone in all our lives, it changed us, changed our course, nurtured and reassembled us."

Muddy Waters is the latest dining casualty to come at the hands of COVID-19 in the Twin Cities. In just the past week, Izzy's Ice Cream in St. Paul and the Bachelor Farmer in Minneapolis both announced they were closing.

Many restaurants, bars and breweries have voiced the difficulty of staying open for business during government orders to halt dine-in service.

Last month restaurant owner Patrick Kallemeyn told KSTP business at his two restaurants in St. Paul had dropped by 80% and that he had to lay off 86 employees.
