Authorities say an overnight fire at a mosque in Minneapolis was accidental.

According to the Minneapolis Fire Department, a neighbor saw flames at Tawfiq Mosque, along Lyndale Avenue North, and reported the fire around midnight.

Responders were able to keep the fire contained to the entryway with minimal damage.

Minneapolis police spokesperson John Elder confirmed to KSTP that investigators found the cause of the fire was an electrical malfunction. The Minneapolis Fire Department also confirmed the cause of the fire was electrical in an update issued Tuesday.
